Web host webaxxs/ reseller for OLM - LOTS OF DOWN TIME

I cannot recommend this company OLM or webaxxs at all any more. Near the end, you can read an article that I wrote in 2004. At that point the information was valid and OLM was a good web hosting company.
Since fall 2005 they have had so many outages, you won't believe it.
One single outage in October or November 2005 took 7 or 8 days!
Another 1-week outage in January 2006.
In February I moved the most critical of my sites to bluehost which is a LOT better than OLM (at the time of writing, June 1st 2006).

Within the last 7 days they had another 3 outages. The current outage has been 24 hours, look at the screenshot of their support desk:

I've hosted 3 domains with this company since 1998 and while they are far from being the cheapest, they are very reliable, good to very good features and earn therefore my recommendation.
Initially I think I got 300 MB of disk space for $15.95, then I added the referer logs for $2 so that makes a total of $17.95.
Around 2001 I requested more web space and they upped it to 400 MB and later to 500 MB. As of 03/2005, they are not willing to give you over 500 MB but recommend a dedicated machine for such large projects.
I have hosted other sites on 4 other web hosting companies and made different, not so good experiences there. The competition may be slow to respond to inquiries, or technically not so knowledgable.
Some web hosts will not allow too much at the unix command line. With WebAxxs I have not had any limits. Gnu C++ is installed, Java is installed, all libraries I ever needed were always there. I've even installed some perl modules on my own. Try that with your run-of-the mill web host. They will tell you that they need to install perl modules and then it magically takes them 2 weeks.
In 7 years of doing business with WebAxxs I had to call them 4 times only. Once because a 'good' hacker had found a security hole (in my selfwritten scripts) and discovered my master password. At that time I didn't know how to update that password myself.
Another time I called because I had started a SQL query that would take very very long, it indeed blocked my web site and I asked their admin to kill the query.
The third call was when I asked about more disk space.
The 4th call was to update my credit card information.
If you only look at disk space and traffic, then WebAxxs is rather pricey. But you get what you pay for, it is really true in this case. Look for my review on Canaca, a 'cheap' host.
